My fiance and I went there after the half marathon she participated in a roughly a month ago. We only went there because as part of the race we had a 20% off coupon. We went and dined and the service was awful. That being said they were short staffed. Now you know that there is a race in town and you promoted a 20% off to the runners so you are going to need more staff. The food was mediocre at best. Also the best part was the lie about 20% off. They did not knock off 20% off our bill but just off the appetizer a my coke. Its doesn't say "we choose what items" it says "off lunch or dinner". I overheard other tables also having problems with that. I had enough and just wanted to leave. I will not be going back.

Food was very good. Menu had lots of options. I had the not so cajun shrimp pasta, which was pretty good. Service was okay. Most people seemed to be standing around doing nothing while a few employees were scrambling around trying to get everything done. I would return for sure!

I ended up here on a recommendation from a local, on a whim. The service was amazing, the outside deck area overlooking the inlet, beautiful. The special for the day was not on the menu, as a Thai chef is a seasonal item.... I'm so glad that I ventured! Delicious. Yummy... Wednesday Thai menu during "off" season, definitley. ON.

Wow today was sharkys day in my family during out trip to OIB. Once again wasn't let down in the least. Great service all around from making sure glasses were full to showing my kids the resident cat. The outside seats are where it's at because with that view sharkys may be the only place where you want your food to take a bit longer to arrive. I enjoyed a blackened grouper sandwich that was so very fresh and cooked wonderfully. I tried a bite of my 4 year olds shrimp which were the small calabash style shrimp minus all the grease. Thank you sharkys for wonderful food and memories!

My boyfriend and his family have been coming to OIB for forever...this summer is my first time here- we decided to try out Sharky's for our date night, Opted for a seat at the outdoor bar. Our server Lauren was great! Pizza is a must try!

I have been going to the place since I was a kid. The food is amazing and staff is very friendly. Not so Cajun chicken pasta was excellent!

Did take-out for me so I cannot comment on the service or ambiance. But, Fish Tacos are a common choice and these were one of the best ever. Cook on fish, cabbage mix, and the sauce spiciness were great. Shell was so-so but hit the spot.

Ate here this past weekend during our vacation. We chose to sit outside so my son could look at all the boats coming in. Our server was Luke-He was nice and we had no problems. I had the back yard burger which is actually a chicken sandwich. I wasn't aware when I ordered it that it came with bacon but obviously it did. No problem though, took it off and put it on my husbands plate :-p Other than that I loved it-had the sweet potato fries and loved them too. My husband had the grouper sandwich and my son had the kids pasta. Both enjoyed their food and we would definitely come back.

This place was such a rip-off! We ordered the mac & cheese bites and it was like 8 dollars and we only got TEN for the whole order. didn't last very long between four people. And every other entree we got was the same. Very little food for way too much money. We ordered the coconut shrimp and when it arrived there was only SIX shrimp. How much did it cost? NINE DOLLARS. RIdiculous. About the only thing this place has going for it is the location. It's one of the only restaurants close to the beach house we're staying in which is why we decided to try it. Will definitely never go there again. Highly suggest avoiding this place and driving a little further to go somewhere better.

My cousin and I always take Friday afternoon before leaving OIB to enjoy some girl time with beer and pizza at Sharky's. 99 percent of staff leaves much to be desired, but there's always one awesome server who is so on top of things it makes an average experience that much better. We had said server last week and she was great. As someone who's been vacationing at OIB for what seems like forever, here's what you should know about Sharky's: The prices aren't low, but they're not astronomical either. The views from the back deck are awesome. The service can be spotty. The pizza is good and the beer cold. If that last one rings your bell, then you'll be just fine.

Atmosphere is cozy. Great prices. Lots of food for the price. Grouper sandwich, fish tacos, and shrimp are great!!! Service is great, manager came by multiple times to check on our party.

Holy Mackerel, this was good! We had been to the Mack the night before and were not impressed, so we were looking forward to getting a good seafood meal before we had to leave. We were not disappointed. I asked about the fish taco, and the waitress said it is one of her favorites, and that it is more like a burrito, cut in half. It was excellent and the best fish "taco" I have ever had. It was stuffed full of flaky, good tasting fish with perfect amount of cabbage and seasonings. Very filling and priced right. The side item was nacho chips and salsa, which was homemade and fresh. My wife had a grouper therapy and the fish portion was twice as big as what we had at the Mackerel the night before. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned and was a great way to finish up a visit to our favorite place, OIB! Excellent service, also!

  • Lauren B.

The service was excellent! We had the grouper sandwich that was very good not the best but certainly not the worst. The chicken wrap was good but the winner was the pepperoni pizza. Hot and bubbly cheese and great crust. A little on the pricey side but it's geared toward tourists. Or 1 year old niece loved the decor and or friendly server Hannah.

Sharky's is back. The food quality is very good and the service is greatly improved. The seafood plater is excellent. I recommend you give them a try.

been coming here for years - usually meeting the family after golf for a post round beer filled feast. . Have had some bad experiences with waiting/wrong orders/bad staff etc... - as well as good. I went with a party of 9 which is typical for my crew - and can be hard. We were seated quickly, waitress was great and food was better than I remember. My kids insist on it and eat anything from pizza to burgers. I like the cold beer and ESPN at every angle. Fish is always good and I am always happy to see the crab stuffed peppers. they will see me 3X a year until I stop coming to OIB (on my 35th year).

Sharky's is a nice place to sit outside and eat near the beach. The view is great since it's right on the water. I feel that the service can be al little better as we usually have to wait a long time before someone comes to take our order. The pizza is good though everything else I've had to eat has been fine but not great. It's the only place I really eat on the island though.

  • Lizzie H.

For food that was obviously frozen just a few minutes before being served, the food is waaaayyy overpriced and not fresh at all. On top of that, the service was slow and rather poor.

We went at 4pm on a friday night to avoid the dinner rush and sat outside to look at the boats and birds on the bay. As expected, the atmosphere is really relaxed and casual. . Our server didn't supply us with napkins or tell us the specials/veggie of the day, but she was very attentive otherwise. The sharks teeth (breaded jalapeño peppers stuffed with crab meat) were pretty good. I got the crab cakes with mashed potatoes and subbed coleslaw for the veggies. The crab balls were just okay, but only because Earl made some kick ass crab cakes last week. The coleslaw was good and thank goodness not drenched in mayo. The potatoes tasted freshly made. Earl got the flounder and shrimp; the batter was tasty, the seafood was fresh, and the fries were nice and crispy. We really couldn't have asked for a better plate. I only wish we got real silverware. Maybe silverware is restricted to indoor dining. Even though everything we ordered was fried, it was still pretty light on the stomach. 4 beers, an appetizer and 2 entrees-- all for $60. Tip: if you need to find the restrooms--they have wooden signs that say "girls", and "boys". Ironically, the wooden signs are in the shape of arrows that point elsewhere. P.S. The hostess was a majorly disgruntled girl who does not smile. She needs to be replaced ASAP.

Decent food with a decent price. Not perfect, but this island has very few good places to eat. We enjoyed sitting outside. The waitresses were quite attentive. A guitarist sang and played towards the end of our meal which added to the experience. Overall, this was our best casual dining experience on Ocean Isle Beach.

  • Dennis R.

Had an early dinner there last night and it was great! Blackened grouper sandwich, combo meals and grilled shrimp skewers were all well prepared and good portions. The kid's fried shrimp portion was larger than most and our server was amazing, always made sure we had full drinks. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back.

  • Molly J.

Only giving one star because I can't give it none. The food is fine, but the hostess is the quintessence of rude. Had absolutely no appetite after she chose to speak to me so condescendingly.

Went here while in town visiting. Food was good but service was incredibly poor. Waited over half an hour to place our order and then waited a solid 15 minutes after we had finished eating for the check.

  • Melissa N.

Atmosphere: The place was really loud and the hostess seemed disinterested in doing her job from the initial greeting. The atmosphere could be great (well decorated and people seem really relaxed) but the employees seemed more interested in talking to each other than helping to serve paying customers. We actually sat in the bar area so the restaurant area may be a little different. We ordered our drinks and they sat on the bar for several minutes while other employees stood around and talked amongst themselves behind the bar (and I believe one of the folks was actually the bar manager). Several minutes later when our waitress got done talking to some folks across the bar she grabbed them and brought them to us. No drink specials or beer on tap at this venue. Food: we ordered the calamari and when it arrived it was undercooked and we had no silverware so we had to grab some rolled silverware on our own from the tub by the hostess station. One of us ordered the grouper sandwich and it was really good!! Cooked well and a really good portion. Fish taco was actually more like a burrito and too spicy for me although my boyfriend liked it. The food actually came out pretty quickly after we ordered - so if you are in a hurry and want something fast I would recommend sitting at the bar and ordering there. Overall: atmosphere, service and price not so great. Food was fast after ordering and grouper was amazing (a surprise given the service). Location is fantastic, very close to the beaches and right off of the causeway.

Party of 9 at Sharky's ate outdoors tonite. Appetizers included Hush Puppies, Macaroni and Cheese Bites, and Chips with Salsa and Black Beans. We loved them all but especially the Mac and cheese and hush puppies. I got the Tuna Steak cooked perfectly to medium rare. It came with vegetables and rice. My husband got the Reef and Beef. The steak was a little tough and fatty but flavorful. The shrimp was great and offered a bit of a kick. Our Waitress Hannah was super sweet and gave us great service! Sharky's is a great restaurant at OIB

Sharkys has more of a diverse menu than others on the island. I have recently branches out and gotten "non island" food and been pleasantly surprised! The wings are great and the pizza is top notch. Nothing I would change about the place!

  • Shannon W.

Best place for variety at Ocean Isle. They have just about everything. Pizza (delicious), salad, burgers, wraps, sea food (of course), and other sandwiches. Went twice on my visit to the island. First night got the Cuban and second got the Kelly Slater's Favorite Salad, both were excellent. Someone else in my group got the Destroyer pizza and it was so good. Prices aren't bad, most meals are $8-10 and up.

The view from the outdoor deck is beautiful and relaxing. I had been craving a fish taco so this seemed like the perfect place to order one. It was actually a fried fish wrap with way to many raw onions. My husband did not like his pulled pork sandwich either. It gave him heartburn for the rest of the day. I saw all the positive reviews about the service and wish I could agree. Our server seemed to forget about the outdoor customers preferring to have indoor conversations with her coworkers.

I believe Sharky's is the oldest restaurant on the island, and it has become an OIB staple. In the '90s, the restaurant wasn't very good. That's not the case these days, as Sharky's has blossomed into a consistently satisfying beach restaurant. Their patio offers one of the best views in the area, and you should definitely grab a drink and watch the sunset over the canal and Intercoastal Waterway. Sharky's has good food, too, particularly their seafood sandwiches, pizza and daily dinner specials. The grouper sandwich, clam strips and crab cakes are excellent. They often have oysters and always have a fresh catch of the day. Plenty of cold beer, decent margaritas and wine if you want it, too. The waiters are usually friendly and fast, and the bar is a good place to grab some food and a beer and watch the big game. It's crowded in the summer. Surprise. Plan accordingly. At minimum, it's miles better than its next-door neighbor.

Came here after getting rejected by the sugar shack. If you can get a table over there (make RSVP!), go there instead (well that's more of a mental note for me next time I'm in town). We got the Ray's Favorite Pasta, a flounder sandwich, side of Cole slaw (of course), and Jamaican Jerk chicken wings. Pasta was okay - sauce wasn't amazing or anything - but okay. Flounder sandwich was pretty good - had to eat it with only one of the bun halves, otherwise, it was just way too bready for me (couldn't taste the sandwich). Cole slaw wasn't anything special to toot about. Jamaican Jerk chicken wings were tasty - boyfriend was doing cartwheels over them. :) Service was okay - a little slow and discombobulated. Yes, servers seemed more and more frazzled as the dinner went on. So.... go earlier rather than later for decent service.

I actually thought the food here was a step above your average seafood shack, and I've been there 4 or 6 times. Many of the specials were interesting preparations of seafood - beyond the usual fried. But, it was choked with cigarette smoke from the bar. These visits were all in the off-season, so there weren't as many open windows as usual. Absolutely gross, when will NC get a clue?

Went for a Sunday boat ride and ended up at Sharky's. It was an afternoon to remember. The food was wonderful, Pizza to die for. Our waitress was pleasant even joined us after her shift. Besides pizza we had "bugs", Cuban and mahi mahi sandwich no one had a bad meal or a bad drink. Meet several frequent customers and enjoy most everyone.

This place is a mess. 6 of us (including 2toddlers) Waited almost an hour for our food which was nothing special. Server came by once to tell us the were a LITTLE backed up in the kitchen and then disappeared. No drink refills or updates for at least 30 minutes. I think she was just too embarrassed to come by. They were busy but not slammed. Not going back. Giggling Mackerel next door is a much better choice.

We had two separate experiences with Sharky's this past week. First, we arrived in OIB to learn that Cinelli's closed, thus leaving us depressed and scrambling to find a proper pizza replacement. The guy at the ABC store told us Sharky's had pizza so we grabbed a couple pies from their takeout window (very convenient, btw). We grabbed a beer inside while we waited. The pizza was okay. It smelled delicious but could've used a little more sauce. Three large pies cost $62 which is pretty pricey considering the Domino's down the road was offering 5 pies with 5 apps and soda for $60 but who goes to the beach to eat Domino's? Not I. Second time around, we wanted some seafood before we left and had intended to eat at Giggling Mackerel next door since they had crab legs, but there was an 1-1/2 hour wait at 8:45 pm so we abruptly headed to Sharky's instead. The hostess told us it'd be 40 mins (for 4 people) but that it probably wouldn't be that long so we grabbed another beer at the bar and were seated less than 20 mins later. (Let me preface this by saying that we had tackled a large order of Sugar Shack Jerk Wings earlier in the evening so our stomachs were already partially full, thus we didn't finish our meals.) My BF and I ordered the Crab Cakes (I swapped out the mashed potatoes for sweet potato fries), brother got the appetizer sampler platter and his GF got the Tuna after they ran out of the pasta for her original order. The Crab Cakes were a good size but were a little heavy on the Old Bay seasoning and a bit spicy for our taste. Veggies were well cooked but didn't taste like anything. Sweet potato fries were delish. Brother's girlfriend liked the Tuna and the Crab-filled Jalapeno poppers from the sampler platter. Again, a little pricey as the crab cakes were $18. Not a raving review but no complaints from us. I'd go back.

I would recommend this place on your first day (and first time) in Ocean Isle Beach. Maybe you've had a long flight, or long drive, and you need to unwind before you take a lay of the land. I say kick off your shoes, slide on your flippy flops (or not) and rest up on the beach. When hungry, head on over to Sharky's, which is on OIB, and right off the Causeway. It's not far or difficult to go to, the food is fine, and the service is friendly. You don't have to worry about difficult directions or getting lost (who wants to get stressed on the first day of vacay?) This isn't a bad place to start, and you can figure out where to go to next on a full belly, taking a peaceful after-dinner walk.

Drifted here after being really dissatisfied with the menu at its next door neighbor. Didn't expect much but loved it. Good atmosphere, great service and delicious food even thought fried seafood is not my thing. Will go again.

  • Steve S.

I really liked this place. I ate there twice last week; the first was better than the second. The food was good both times. Most of it is fried, but the Kelly Slater's Favorite salad is quite good, if you need a healthy option. I ate a bunch of fried seafood and hush puppies, and enjoyed every bite. The service varies depending on the server and time of day. You can't go wrong here, though.

A medium priced beach community tourist dive that serves a decent variety of food and booze. I recently ate here with my in-laws. I didn't expect The Ritz Carlton brunch buffet, obviously -- just a local "only place open on the beach" sort of dive with medium to medium-high prices for local seafood and American food. It's pretty much what I expected. I'm not sure what to say about the decor -- very surfer friendly. Has that sense of sort of a sports bar meets seafood restaurant meets tourist location. You're not there for private booths. Just enjoy the park bench seating along the back wall and order some food. The pricing is what sorta knocks this review down a notch. I could pay the same amount for a blackened grouper sandwich or shrimp and veggie skewer and get more food at The Boundary House in Calabash. But THAT place is in Calabash, and when I'm just getting something to eat after unpacking for a few days at the beach, the last thing I want to do is drive to Calabash, and for this convenience (not leaving the island), I guess you have to pay more. There's a decent variety of food -- so rug rats can get what they want if they're nitpicky about seafood. The shrimp puppy appetizers were good if a bit heavy, and the blackened grouper sandwich was good with fries. Beer prices weren't exorbitant -- the Blue Moon Summer Ale beer special for $4 wasn't bad at all the night I was there. If you get to the beach and don't wanna cook your first night, visit Sharky's and set your expectations to medium (e.g. relaxed -- crap -- you're at the beach).

  • Carolina C.

Only go here if you're really hungry and willing to sacrifice quality and taste for poor bar food. The service is impressive and they know how to turn tables, but the thoughtless preparation and apparent rush to get plated left us somewhat full and very disappointed. Grouper sandwich was tremendously overcooked. Shrimp skewers were obviously frozen shrimp that were steamed (possibly even microwaved) but advertised as "grilled". The only thing they've got going for them is the lime vinaigrette dressing and pretty decent cole slaw but $60 later our dinner for two could have been much better elsewhere. Oh and bring a blanket or you'll freeze!

  • Chase H.

This place is great for a burger and beer. I would recommend coming here on a less busy day of the week or at least come here when your not going to be late for something later in the night. The wait gets pretty long for dinner sometimes.

  • Kelly K.

This place has a few options for a vegetarian: cheese sticks, sweet potato fries, a couple of salads (leave off the meat), veggie of the day, hush puppies, cole slaw, fries, onion rings, a veggie pasta, and pizza. This is quite a lot, considering this is a seafood restaurant. I wasn't terribly hungry, so I got the spinach salad (no bacon) and some hush puppies. The salad was okay (nothing special), and the hush puppies were good. They came with some sort of sweet butter (brown sugar?), but I requested some tartar sauce. The location can't be beat (right on the water), but our server was horrible. He took forever to get our order, and he seemed like he had a lot going on.

Totally worth going to. Really good and simple southern food, with very fair prices and nice servers. Ask for the field peas as a side- this is a great regional specialty.

Delicious food, great location, good service, "BBQ-type restaurant" setting with a bar. The conch fritters, calamari, shrimp stuffed jalapeño poppers, and New England clam chowder were scrumptious. My young daughter ate her whole cheeseburger -- that hasn't happened in a while so you know that was good too. Service was attentive.

Nice location. Lots of food. Sit on deck in back and watch the boats go by.

Sharky's handled our 16 women reservation really well, including the drinks (paid separately). The food was low cost and tasty. Fish specialties abounded, with fab fish tacos, amazing jalapeño poppers and had a strangely enticing sauce for sweet potato fries. Our trip was pre-season so it wasn't terribly crowded and the owner stopped by to make sure we were having fun, even snakily commenting, "there's no testing at the beach," to a laughing group. Top price was $19 for an entree and the decor is beach. Glad we went, would go again. Excellent takeout system, reasonable parking.

Not exactly the greatest seafood restaurant in the world but neither is it the worst. Went with a couple friends recently and found the service to be quick and very attentive but the food itself was mediocre at best. I tasted the crab cake and it was...okay. Not my favorite item on the menu and definitely not worth the $15+ that my friend spent to get it. I spent about 19$ and for that much I would have definitely expected more food. However, my dish was actually decent so I didn't mind the price but I don't think I'll come back here voluntarily. They do have a/c though so I won't judge you if you run in there just to escape the heat.

  • Jenny L.

Went with a large group for dinner as a cheap and fast alternative. Fabulous service (nice and attentive waitress) but mediocre food. One of my friends had the shrimp taco which was sub-par and I had the "not-so-cajun shrimp" which was also pretty bad. The shrimps were clearly not fresh and there was no hint of spice to the "house cajun spices" description on the menu. The food wasn't particularly cheap either. Giving it the benefit of the doubt-maybe I didn't know what to order? But would not go back either way.

I went to Sharky's with a large group, and we were given a private room, aka "The Shark Den!" It was nice that we had our own space, but man, it was still really loud! The place has all the cool ocean stuff hanging on the walls: sharks, surf boards, etc. The service was good and so was the food, there just wasn't enough of it for the money.

  • Lisa R.

We ate at Sharkeys for lunch today. We were looking for a casual meal. Burgers etc... And that's what we found. Nothing fancy. But some tasty eats. And good, friendly service. Fries are great. The guys liked their burgers. We shared an order of sharks teeth - jalepenos stuffed with crab meat, coated with breadcrumbs and fried. Yum yum. Conch fritters were ok. I'm wasn't sure what to expect there. No previous conch experience and I found them rubbery and the dough heavy and still wet. I had the shrimp taco (which was actually a wrap) and I liked it! My daughter had a Greek shrimp salad that she liked as well. Overall we felt like we got what we paid for and what we were looking for at Sharkeys.

Overall, this place is OK. Dinner service is pretty slow and the choices aren't that great. While dinner isn't their strength, this place is great for a cold beer on the deck with a few appetizers.

Ick! Ick! Ick! That's what my boyfriend and I were saying for the next 30 minutes after we left this place, and that's what we told our family. I ordered the Puertorican bowl (rice and beans with cheese) because I figured there was no way anyone could mess something so basic up. It had a really weird taste and I could only eat two spoonfuls. My boyfriend said it tasted weird as well. It didn't have any rice or bean taste...weird? It came with "homemade" salsa and chips...which looked liked canned salsa with "homemade" chopped up cilantro. My boyfriend had the fried shrimp which was edible but he still didn't like much. He only ate it because he was starving! We concurred that this was one of the worse restaurant experiences of our lives. Oh, and the waiter never commented about why I had all my food left...obviously he doesn't care...that's pretty bad service.

Every other good restaurant seemed to be closed for lunch. We were recommended this restaurant. I wish I have checked the reviews first. The place is overpriced, and food was not great. There was no draft beer, just bottles. The seafood could have been much better taking into account the place is located almost at the beach. Sometimes I like the relaxed style restaurants, but this one was not one of them. Back in Virginia we have much better seafood places ( miracles of the fast transportation;). The bell pepper on one of our plates was cut with the sticker on it. Hmmm. It doesn't add points to the general experience. I won't be back, honestly speaking.

about the ONLY spot to eat in this tiny town that's on the Atlantic at the bottom of N. Carolina. Sharky's has the vibe of a sports bar, more or less. high ceilings and open windows to let in the sea-air. i appreciated that i did not feel crowded here, and found the cleancut-type server kid decent. service was not slow. American fare with an emphasis on seafood here. i downed some tasty french fries (even if they had been in a walk-in but an hour before). i had a palatable side salad as well. mind you i only ate here once but was nonetheless impressed with a grilled grouper ruben. not the "traditional" russian dressing im used to, but mounds of sour cabbage & melted swiss made the sandwich a winner. i was psyched to see Yuengling offered on the beer list to wash it down. got the job done... i'd stop back in here.

Fairly ok. Loud atmosphere. The beer outside while waiting for our table was a much better experience than the food. I ordered The Bog...you shouldn't. Service was friendly though a little slow. Not a bad place...not a good place.

Not so bad for the only place to really eat in ocean isle. We waited for 100 years, but the guys who was hosting was funny and entertaining and busting his rump :). The staff was awesome - I had the shrimp, already peeled - served cold - but cooked perfectly and very meaty. My husband got the Cuban sandwich. Not so good -I need to open a restaurant there and give this rest a run for their money. Like the other review said - $4 beers with no draft and they have 4 bars!!! :(

Got there with a party of 11 at 7:15pm and told 40 minutes for a table, expected and fine; got sat in about 20 min, great start. Ordered 2 apps (sweet potato fries and sampler) took 20-25 minutes to come out, an order of sweet potato fries was small, maybe something for 2, sampler was ok. Ordered good while waiting on apps, it took 35 minutes and came out incomplete and wrong. Sent server back 3 times for sauces she missed and to fix things, after that we just accepted that it was a meal. Had a spill and it took asking for new napkins 3 times before she finally brought new ones that were wet "right out of the drier". Overall bad experience. Portions were small, prices weren't service was horrible and auto add gratuity. I wouldn't go back and I'll tell people to stay clear!

Sharky's has a good sized menu to please just about everyone. The Pizza is pretty good, not too greasy, generous portions. The salads didn't look top notch, though.

Very good! Server was very friendly, margarita was great and my shrimp taco was delicious! There is not a lot to choose from in town, so I was glad to have found this place!

This was a disappointment for me. I had the Nicaraguan Seafood Dinner which gave a choice of seafood that is "lightly battered and fried to perfection." I chose scallops and shrimp. The breading was falling off. The scallops were smaller than dimes. I couldn't eat anything on the bottom of the plate because there was a puddle of grease in the bottom. My wife had a salad and said it was good. My son enjoyed his hotdog.

Ironically, we ordered everything but seafood. A burger, wings, pizza and a few apps. The atmosphere is nice and casual - fitting to a location on the water. The service was great, very friendly and attentive. And the food was tasty and reasonably priced.

The first night we stayed in Ocean Isle Beach this year, we decided to try Sharky's. We visited on a Tuesday night and it was busy, but not so much that we had to wait on a table. Service was marginal at best. It took forever to get a server to the table and then, by the time he showed up, he only took our drink order, even though we were ready to order. It took a while to make the burgers, and chicken tenders that we ordered and then when they came, he dropped them off and took forever to come back with ranch and mayo. The food was ok. My burger was tasty, but I have had better. Not much you can do to mess up chicken tenders, so they were on par with other places. The prices were slightly expensive for the amount of food that you got. All in all, our experience at Sharky's was not that great. I am willing to give them another chance next time I visit OIB, but if they come with another experience like I described above, we probably won't be back again.

Food was decent, service was a little slow. Seems to be a good place to hang out, get a burger or sandwich and a cheap beer, but not much more than that.

Cheap PBR and delicious fried scallops and shrimp. PBR was on special for only $2.50 and the fried seafood was some of the best I've had. Beautiful views of intracoastal waters while I ate. Would definitely come here again.

Pros:affordable, quick seating and has outdoor waterfront seating or inside seating. Cons: average food and below average service and a lot of flies circling and stalking your dinner plate. I would have enjoyed the experience better if I didn't have such a bad waitress. She literally dumped our plates on the table and left. She didn't stop to ask us if we needed ketchup, cocktail sauce, napkins etc. I had to get up and go hunt these things myself. Food was decent. No management present which probably explains the service levels but this is otherwise a good quick place to grab a fast meal.

Great menu! Great scene! We ate overlooking the water, with an amazing cloudy sunset, and a rainbow all the while listening to the terrific vocals of Joan singing live on the deck. I had the tropical salad with coconut shrimp and fruit- really tasty!

Ended up here after my boyfriend and I were driving back to NC from Myrtle Beach looking for a place on the water to eat. As far as food goes, it's your typical bar and grill. Get the sweet potato fries- they come with a cinnamon butter dipping sauce! This would be a great place during the summer to visit by boat when the weather is nice!

When you are one of the few options on an island, you can get away with murder. We ordered pizza and it took them 20 minutes to find us red peppers. How can you serve pizza and not have a plentiful supply of red pepper flakes? Needless to say the other items ordered were okay and pretty much on par for a place that gets business due to being one of the few options. Great for families who want a break from cooking but not anything else.

Went there with my family, I had fish tacos, my wife has the grouper, kids had shrimp salad and noodles with butter/parm. Food was good, service was good. The hush puppies were excellent! I really liked the fish tacos!

Nothing overly special in my opinion. Ordered the white pizza and it was average. If you are looking for average but not bad food this is a good spot. Conveniently located right off of the intercostal waterway

Sweet potato fries with cinnamon sugar butter is amazing. Great to drive up on the boat and dock and hang at the out door bar. Place is always just mediocre, but last time 2 of us found black, curly HAIR in our food. Gross. We did not pay for that junk. They always get my order wrong. Don't get the shrimp tacos. No beer on tap, all bottles. No cider (or anything decent) for us Gluten Free ers. We won't be back, unless we really super duper want those dang sweet potato fries.

Good for lunch. Wish they had more seafood. I had shrimp tacos and there hush puppies were the bomb. They serve you a lot of food.

Me and a group of friends visited Sharky's last weekend during a brief stay on OIB. My friend had been there previously and recommended it as a lively place for the locals and not as touristy as other places. They were fairly crowded on a Saturday night. We decided to sit in the bar area to watch college football. It took a while to get our orders in, and the wait for food was quite long, but they were probably busier than usual. The food was good. I ordered the Terryaki Tuna entree with rice and veggies. We also split an appetizer of the sharks teeth which is kind of like jalapeno poppers except with crab meat. I thought service was lacking. Like I mentioned we had to wait a while for food, drink orders, checks etc. and the worse part of it was we had to wait for silverware. This is frustrating when you have a nice plate of food in front of you and you can't eat it! (except with your fingers). Sharky's is very casual and would make a nice hangout place, but for are probably a few better dining options on OIB if you want good service.

Went for dinner with 4 adults, 3 kids. Setting works well for families, also has a great deck overlooking the canal. Food was decent, mostly fried unfortunately. Disappointing part was that the only fresh fish they had was flounder and that was only available fried. All other seafood is previously frozen, according to our waitress, which is a big disappointment in such a hub of fishing. Fried flounder was good though. Grouper sandwich was bland beyond the blackening seasoning. Service was friendly and efficient.

The service was amazing, the food was fantastic, I had shrimp and scallops which were lightly battered and fried but not greasy at all. The conch fritters were some of the best I have had. Drink prices good compared to other places I have been. Definitely a redo.... We ate out on the back deck facing the intercostal the atmosphere is relaxed which is what we like, it's the beach for pete's sake if you are looking for something fancy this is not for you.

The food was okay, the atmosphere was rowdy (although we were seated by the bar) and the hostesses were indifferent. What made this place 4 stars for me was Cheyenne, our waitress. What a gem! Personable, efficient and just an all-around nice person. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her and truly, she put a smile on our faces. Tip her well - she deserves it!

If they ever fix the air conditioning it may be an option. We arrived early on the island and decided to stop for lunch. I had the fish sandwich which is flounder fillet. Bun is a bit old probably a day old. Sandwich was ok but fries were nothing to brag about. Sweet tea was good. If you like eating inside at 80 degrees then this is your place !!

We had lunch here on a quite Tuesday afternoon with very few customers around as it was approximately 2:30. We requested an outside table, which was granted, no problem. It took about 10 minutes for our server to appear, which in not a capital offense, but definitely slower than I think is reasonable. Food was relatively quick. My spouse had fish tacos, which were not seasoned and had little to no real taste. I had a grouper sandwich. The first two bites had bones in the fish. This was enough for me; I paid and got the hell out of there. Also, for the price point, I would expect a more upscale look and feel. This establishment just looks dirty, old, an unkempt. As for the food, I normally would have communicated my concerns to the server or management, however I just did not get the feeling that anybody would care, based on the servers overall attitude.

Cute place, good for kids because they can draw on the paper used as tablecloths. If you don't sit in a booth or on a bench, you have to sit in plastic lawn chairs. The pizzas are really good! Didn't have the seafood, but they have the typical fried stuff. It's close if you're staying in Ocean Isle Beach, so it's good enough not to have to travel very far.

Get the jerk chicken wings!! They are amazing. The portions are huge and worth every penny

The steak does not deserve a star. The server was excellent. Repeat do not ever order the ribeye unless you want some unknown piece of something covered up with spices to disguise it.

Better late than sorry. Forgot to do my review on this while at the beach. The wait was short. The staff was excellent. We got the seafood platter plus a shrimp appetizer. Seasoned amazingly. Hot. Juicy. Washed down with cold beers. The waiter that night was on his game not only at our table but surrounding tables. We had a live band. Thee atmosphere was relaxed and chilled. It took a stressful day into a peaceful night. Also the beach is close by for a late night stroll after dinner. I will definitely be back.
